1994 Ford Explorer 4wd system not working.

No lights when toggling the buttons on the dash. I have traced every wire and inspected the fuses and relays. How do I test the switch or how do I clean the contacts on the stepper motor (i have heard that works)
Thanks for any ideas or help

when you first start the truck do the 4x4 lights in the dash cycle on and off?
