Year of vehicle: 1994 Make of vehicle (Ford/ Chevrolet): Buick Model of vehicle ( Taurus/ Cavalier): Century Engine size (2.0/ 5.7): 3.1L 6cyl Mileage/Kilometers: 50000 miles Had the Buick for a little over a year, used to belong to my grandmother and had some power problems when I got it. Replaced the alternator and my dad replaced the battery, all was pretty good after that. It's a bit sluggish normally to start in the cold, but the other day, it started up fine in colder temperature (about 30ish Fahrenheit), but later on in the day it snowed, after that, it wouldn't start. It will start if jumped and it will also start if you constantly turn the ignition (after maybe 10 - 15 minutes of trying to start it). My dad thought it might be the fuel filter, so that was replaced, however that doesn't seem to be the problem. The engine will turn over, but there is no firing. We put a can of Heet into it and my dad also put some Seafoam into it, but still the same results. It can also sit for quite some time (6 hours) and start up no problem, but if it sits longer than that, it won't start. Any insight on what the problem might be would be most appreciated. Thanks.

When it doesn't start check for spark at a plug. If good then spray some starting fluid in throttle body and reassemble snorkel. It that starts it or at least runs for a few seconds then it's narrowed down to a fuel problem. Then a fuel pressure check is in order. If that's good it could be the CTS or plug to it (coolant temp sensor) especially if it restarts fine when engine is warm after a short shut down. I'm guessing the engine cranks normally - right? T
