1993 subaru imprezza..won't start Sign In

1.8 liter 2wd 200,000 mi...wife was driving and it just shut down...put gas in just in case(you know how wives are about that)...nothing ..turns over but won't start...pulled off plug wire and grounded it out..had no spark...what's up..timing belt?,brain?Crazy

brian; You won't get a spark if you ground the wire. You must hold it (better yet, have the wife hold itWink) about 1/4-3/8" away from a ground so that the spark has to jump the gap. If she gets zapped, run very fast. (and try not to laugh..out loud)
If you truly have no spark, does the engine sound as if it's cranking over much faster than normal? You may want to remove the upper timing cover to inspect the belt.
