I have a 1993 gmc stepside with what looks like a fairly new 350 tbi goodwrench crate engine, has 350 emblems on valve covers. It starts right up has plenty of power and no vibrations or anything. It has a loud tapping not knocking at lower rpms, but it goes away when you open it up good and get above about 3000 rpm,has lots of power. It does it idling but you rev up good a time or two and it'll stop sometimes. My oil pressure starts at around 35lbs until the motor starts getting good and warm then i lose slowly lose pressure.I've gotten aggravted and actually tried to blow up the motor running the heck out of it and it just screams,it wont come apart for anything.Any help is greatly appreciated because I've been told its a rod or mainbearing,it were that wouldn't turning over 5000-6000 plus rpm do it in?I really need help on this thanks for any responses

Everything your describing sounds like a weak lifter. Trying to blow it up is just insanity. All your doing is taking life off the other end of it's lifetime when you need it most. If you can't find the noise, then pay someone else to do it for you.

Thanks that makes me feel better,it sounds like its coming from the top end on the back passenger side of the motor.A cam and lifter kit should fix it then, thats cool.I was wanting to upgrade a little anyways.Thank you so much.I wasnt actually trying to blow it up I just ran the heck out of it to see if it held up or scattered the bottom end.If it didn't i figured most likely it wasn't there and I could fix it.Thanks again.
