Unsure...okay...my 1993 Civic's rear passenger door won't open from the inside OR outside! Both handles move freely, and I can hear the power door lock engage (as well as being able to see the knob actuate when I hit the button up front). Has anybody been able to repair this at home? I assume I'd need to pull out the cloth insert for the door panel (which would also require new plastic clips to re-install the insert to factory appearances). It feels as if whatever mechanism attaches to both handles to the latch that clasps the door jamb has come loose. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

The back doors of many cars have a setting that won't allow them to open from the inside locked or not , wicked nice safety feature!!!! When the switch is half way the freaking door won't work at all. Look at the one that works - see if there's a way to get wire in there to move that insane switch. Keep trying inside and out and tape the switch where you want it.

Hey - good luck with it. Auto body shops can be great help with this stuff. Best,

Tom, You are an absolute genius! We went to play golf the other day and my buddy couldn't open the back door from the inside. It never occurred to me that the child lock had been moved, since I am 70 years old and don't have any kids/grandkids, or great grandkids that have ridden in my car. I never gave a thought to the child locks!

I have been trying to find out how to take the door panel off so I could fix the problem. I do have about six years of body shop experience and knew I could fix it. Apparently I don't have common sense enough to look for the obvious.

Thakns again. You are my current hero. However, don't plan on being there for long. I just bought a lottery ticket.
