The car turned on four hours before.

The battery is fine, as it is giving power to all the electronics/lights. I tried starting with a friend jumping the car as well.

The key can be taken out of ignition when driving and the car will still run.

I believe it is the ignition switch or ignition lock, what do you think and how may I check this?

What is the problem you're having? Cranks & won't start or won't crank?

The car turns over but will not start. I tried putting gas in it and that didn't work. It just stopped running while I was driving. The belt, alternator, spark plugs and wires are new.

On no starts you want to find out what is missing spark or fuel to help narrow down the search.

On this particular car if the engine sound "different" when you turn it over now, I would probably check the timing belt. Take off the oil cap & see if you can see the rocker arms move while cranking or take the two 10mm nuts off the timing cover, move it forward & watch the cam gear while cranking. If they don't move, you have a stripped/broken timing belt......
