1992 Mustang lurching between 45 and 65 mph Sign In

I have a 1992 ford mustang that is giving us a problem. We rarely drive it but when we get it up to about 45 mph, it starts to lurch or skip. The rpms jump up and down too. Once we get it up to about 65 mph, all of this stops and it is evened out again. Any ideas? My husband loves this car and we know how to do simple mechanical work. We just don't know where to start here. Thanks in advance

When was the last time it was tuned up? Include the filters (air and fuel) in the tune up. Might be that simple.

Well, I'm embarrased to say that it has been quite a while. I will take care of what I can, then we will take it to a shop if needed. Thank you.

You should be able to do all of it yourself. The hard part will be replacing the fuel filter. Good luck and keep us informed if you need any help.
