I have A 1991 GMC SIERRA, 350,no fuel no spark, have fuel to the tbi, changed coil, ignition module, tested pick up coil good, check engine light comes on with key, fuses good, have power at coil (pink wire), I'm running out of ideas. could the ignition switch cause this. It quit at a set of lights and never started again, it still rolls over.

You need to test for injector pulse using a noid light bulb. If you have no pulse but do have power to one side of the injectors, that will make the pick up coil highly suspect. I know you said you tested it but unless you used a lab scope, your test didn't tell you anything. It can also be any of the related wiring.

I suggested testing not replacing but if the distributor is already out that may be easier.

Ok, new pick-up coil is in.......Nothing?? any ideas, I rechecked all fuses, fuseable links, I had the test light on the ignition switch and had power to all but purple wire which is ground, and a small wire that had around 6 volts through it?

Do you have injector pulse or not?

Re: 1991 gmc sierra, no start Sign In

I'm going to say no, because there is no fuel spray at all. I'm starting to think ECM, the old girl has 412,000 km on it which would be around what 370,000 miles, it has always ran like a champ never a problem with anything other than the usual wear and tear parts which are replaced as soon a they become an issue, very well maintained truck, and a great runner untill the other day, would like to fix it but that 2009 gmc up the road is looking pretty good. lol
I'm wondering, the old pick-up coil wires and connectors were very corroded, could they have arked out and blew up the new moduel? I ask this because the module was the first part I replaced and it did fire up, it would barely keep idle had to give it gas to keep going, it did smooth out but stalled and no life again.
Thanks for your time help'n me out.

Well then, I guess you won't be needing me any more. If your going to assume the test results instead of doing the tests, then you'll still be trying to figure this out next year..

This is a set of 'noid' lights that HT is 'trying' to get you to do the tests so that he may help you.
It can be very frustrating to us when someone asks for help, but can't or won't do the tests required to try diagnosing the problem. If you follow his directions, you will, with his help and knowledge, get to the bottom of this without replacing a bunch of unneeded parts. Some parts stores will rent, or even loan with a deposit, testing tools. Doesn't cost to ask.
