1990 ford f-150 heater core issues

Yes i just bought a 1990 Ford f-150 and it runs great but when i turn the heater on the windows fog up and smells like antifreeze inside the truck, i think it might be the heater core but im not sure. any ideas, and also how would I fix this Problem. Thank you. Robert Alaska

That's a pretty good sign the heater core is leaking. To confirm it, you could pressurize the system and see if there is a leak out of the evap drain or anything is leaking on the passenger floor board.. You would have to replace the core to fix it.........

when you swap the core its worthwhile to replace the hoses and clamps running to it. They're most likely original and you will have problems after disturbing them. Plus it makes it easier to get them off it you don't have to worry about trashing them. Your post seems to indicate you're in Alaska, which is where I was born myself so good to hear from someone at home. Do yourself a favor when you get the hoses and buy the silicone hose thats the highest price at the parts house. It is way more forgiving and tougher than rubber and where you live you can't afford to be without heat. Sent me some moose steaks too. Miss fresh moose. All I get in Wisconsin is deer.

Haha, Gotta love that moose steak. Ill trade moose for dear. anyways. Ya im planning on new hoses and clamps. Thx for the advise on the hoses. im sure they will be a lot better then the rubber ones. Sweet, I got the heater core in with no major problems. Switched hoses with silicone instead of the original rubbers ones. No leaks, Im good to go thanks guys for all your help. Robert
