Hello
I am in the processor buying a 1990 Toyota 4x4 for about 700.00. Here is the mechanical problem that was mentioned about the sate of the car. The rear axis on the passenger side is bent due to an accident . For this reason the owner is selling the car, the owners are old couples living in a rural farming community. The over all cosmetics conditions and including tire are in good condition

IS this car reparable ? how much this might cost? your estimate . Thanks will take my ans off the board

If the only big problem is a bent rear axle and the rest of the car is reasonable you might have a good deal. A new axle would cost a fortune so a used one would make sense and it's probably the housing of the axle (rear differential) and not the axle inside it. If this uses the CV shafts to the rear wheels and that's whats bent you could just replace it and lose a core deposit.

Take a look for yourself. Hire someone to look would be best, but look to see if damage is limited to this axle or if the car is in need of more -- like frame straitening before you decide. Anything can be fixed but it is a matter of is it worth it,
