Is the blazer full size or a s-10?the full size blazers
have a long speedometer cable that when dry can
cause a buzzing sound in the dash

Yes - the S-10s and perhaps the some others can make a speedo cable sound like a bee's nest gone nuts!

Trick - you can get thru the speaker grille to get behind speedo heads to lube cable with real grease - not just graphite which doesn't last or cover up high mile wear. Note - speedometer cables come out only from the dash end - not the trans end and will use tricks like child proofing the removal right at the head behind the speedo itself,

You should still be able to get at it without whole dash out. Loosen whole cluster if needed - there's a way. Which body is this? S-10 or full size? I've done the S series and think the C/Ks too and got there. Ya - you need arms of a three year old and then squeeze right at cable to head and it will remove - then cable comes out. They are a PITA for sure but doable,

Ps: Hairsaver: Take cable off trans end and spin it with a drill or something to verify it has mated with the speedo head before you put it all back together. Some GMs of the vintage with cruise control have a short cable to underhood which helps. Also - sometimes you can push/pull from cable housing underhood to reconnect/remove if helpful.......
