1988 CHEVY CELEBRITY NO SPARK

MY 1988 CHEVY CELEBRITY WILL TURN OVER BUT NOT START. IT DOES NOT GET ANY SPARK AND I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE IGNITION MODULE. IT HAS APPOR. 160,000 MILES AND A 2.8 V 6 MOTOR. I REALLY NEED HELP AS THIS IS MY ONLY CAR AND I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO GO TO A SHOP LIKE MOST PEOPLE. IF ANY ONE CAN HELP I WOULD BE ETERNALLY GREATFUL.

A couple of things come to mind; Are you checking for spark at the coil or at the spark plug end of the wire? If no spark at the coil, could be the pickup coil (in the distributor) which is a fairly common problem. If you are getting spark at the coil and not to the plugs, I'd take a real close look at the cap/rotor. Not sure, but I believe the 88 has a crank sensor which is another very common fault. It will take a bit more diagnosing.

Then, I'd be looking real hard at the crank sensor.

I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN IN THE PAST AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT STARTED BY MESSING WITH THE COIL PACK AND WIRE END IT DOES NOT WORK THIS TIME.

Have you checked for injector pulse during crank? That should tell you if the crank sensor is working.
