1987 toyota camry electrical trouble

OK. I know this sounds odd, but my battery had a dead cell so I replaced that one. After that the alternator went out so I had that replaced and now the only thing that turns on is the head lights. The interior doesn't come on at all.
Anyone know what's going on here?

Check your fusible links and maxi fuses.

In the engiine compartment fuse box.

and where is the fuse box located? I can't find any boxes like I see in a 68 duster

This whole thing may be over your head then and you probably need to bring it to a shop.

problem is that I don't have the money to take it to a shop. A do it myself job is all I've got and I have a week to get this done or I get a court martial for inability to appear for duty.

This could get very involved requiring circuit testing and locating components. You could have ignition switch issues or a problem with one of the relays but if you are having trouble even identifying fuses, you won't have a chance when it goes beyond that.

Did you unplug the battery when you changed the alternator. Did you short anything?
Check the 80 amp alternator fusible link in the fusible link box. It's probably blown. I have seen alternators go bad and pop that link too. The link box should be near the battery. Follow the battery cable to it.

I checked the box and that was the problem. The black fuse ended up broken(literally) and the fuse connections were both melted on. I have to replace the entire box and I'm sure that it's going to be spending a lot of money at the dealer since none of the auto part stores sell them any more
