My 1987 cavalier wagon has been a cold starter for years and has been getting worst, I believe my fuel pump is going out and was looking for some confirmation. Symptoms. When starting have to turn vehicle on and pause until I can hear a hum, I believe this is the full pump engaging Stalls when going from drive to reverse if I don't keep it gased, stalls and threaten to stalls when braked if I don't keep reving it a bit for the first 10-20 minutes. Increasingly worst acceleration/sluggish driving. Noticeable performance difference between a full tank of gas/ under 50 percent and on hills. Provided it is the full pump is it as straight forward as videos suggest, remove the straps, hoses, drop the tank, insert new pump, reassemble. Thanks for the help.

You're not going to have any idea if it's a pump until you take a fuel pressure reading during the failure ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
