So guys, I bought this 1984 porsche 944 today after test driving it twice and having it looked over by a mechanic who was "surprised a 1984 was in that good of shape". I drove it home today and all was great. I went to leave and it drove fine for about 4 miles and then I tried to shift and it was really hard to get into gear. I started smelling some weird smell (burnt fluid) or something so I whipped it around a parking lot and drove it back home. On the way home I REALLY had to fight to get it to go into gear. I got home and turned the car off and with the clutch pushed in, the car went into all of the gears easily. I then started it up and went through all of the gears with the clutch in. All were fine. I put the car in reverse, backed up and put it in first and drove down the drive way. When I tried to shift to second it was like the shifter was "Stuck" in first...I finally popped it into neutral and then into second. I don't know if the clutch failed because there was no slipping or anything. It was dark, so I could check the clutch master or slave cylinders, but I don't think it would be that either since the clutch pedal still has really good pressure. Please any help is greatly appreciated. I call myself a backyard mechanic and although it normally takes me twice the time to do something, it comes out fine. Thanks a ton for a speedy resonse
