1983 cadillac eldorado drivers side door wont shut. Sign In

it was a cold morning this morning, got the door open but now it wont shut. Please help.

Warm it up and spray the latch with something like WD-40 which should help. There have been some wild cold temps in many places lately and strange things happen,

Look at the door locking mechanism is it in the open or closed position? if is in the open position your striker (part on body of car that the lock mechanism locks onto . may have come loose or shifted to far inwards if that is the case you can adjust it with a 47 or so size torq head socket . you will have to get the right size just loosen it and move it a small amount towards the door / out/ and retighten till you get it to latch . also with your door open try and see if you can lift it slightly up and down *checking for worn out hinge pins * if it does move a good amount have someone replace em for you .
