Position in dist cap for #1 will matter if this is a Prestolite or Chrysler distributor as to which port in cap is #1 in relation to holdown clip. If not marked hit back and I'll find out which one. Last OE points was model year 1972 and from 1965 thru 72 a fair average point gap would be .016 or about 27 to 32 for dwell. If dual points set them one at a time by gap and dwell should come up to about 36 to 42 with both working.

Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 -- #1 cylinder is front left #2 front right on to the back with odd #s on left side of engine. Distributor turns CC as you look down on it.

Spark plug gap should be .035 for about all in the vintage.

This from an old paper book and I did just double check for no typos in #s here.

I'm one of those old farts that is pretty good with points. Aim for the lower dwell # in a range and larger point gap as it will shrink over time with use and dwell will go up. Check new points for alignment and there is a tool to adjust that. Keep a good condensor as they don't wear out. If old points have little or no transfer keep the old one. I really have a 60 year old condensor in one of my own vehicles and will argue till the cows come home that they should NOT be replaced unless there is evidence that they are bad!!

I have that book right at the puter now so hit back if I've confused you,

T
