07 grand prix pads and rotors

07 grand prix pads and rotors

While rotating the tires I noticed the pads are starting to get thin. What brand of pads would be closest to the oe pads. I.ve had trouble in the past with new pads and rotors sqeaking even after making sure to lube all the proper areas. The oe breaks have given me 60k with great performance and no noise. any suggestions would be helpfull. Thanks

Many brands sell so called quiet pads but my current favorite for less dust and staying quiet is "Centric" ceramic pads - legal here which should mean legal about anywhere. Both Bendix and Napa sell "quiet" brake pads as well,

Thanks Tom. I have heard somewhere that ceramic pads are known for good performance but are sub par in the noise department. obviously you don't agree with this?

It's not surprising that you get noises if all you are doing is to replace the pads and do nothing with the rotors. You need a new flat, clean surface on the rotors for the pads to ride on whether it be by resurfacing or replacing the rotors.

Hope not misunderstood - do the job right! I just have had good luck with ceramic brand named by Centric for pads. There other parts are painted like baked on paint for new rotors and drums and I'll pay some extra for that! Their rotors and drums are clearly balanced - a big plus if you highway drive and I do once a year - laugh.
BTW - I'm no sponsor of any brand. I do like Hammer suggested to do the job right,

Sorry I forgot to mention that I have always either have the rotors turned or purchase new ones. I just figured that went without saying.
