It just makes this clicking sound when I try to start it. The radio works, the head lights work. Some people at work say it sounds like a starter and others say it sounds like the battery. Does anyone know what it is and how much will it cost to fix?

Multiple clicks like a machine gun is generally a low battery. Charge it, check it then check charging system. If it's original to the car it's too old now. Time for a new one. If single click it's usually a bad connection AND usually lights would go out when you tried to start it. Starter uses tons more power than just lights, T

Thank you very much! We bought a new battery for it about a year ago or so b/c the old one was shot, so it is not an old battery. We took the battery to Advanced Auto Parts and they did say it needed to charge, they are charging it right now so we are hoping that is all it is. BTW - the clicks are not really fast like a machine gun but they are not slow either. Thanks again!

Batteries don't just go dead for no reason. If it turns out to be discharged, then your going to have to find out what caused it. It can be a charging system non working, a bad battery or something staying on and drawing the battery down while parked. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
