2004 Corolla Sport with 80,000 miles - my daugher's car and it has a sporadic but violent shaking of the steering wheel or column. I drove it and finally got it to shake; our mechanic (non-Toyota) drove it for a day and nothing. He had done an alignment and that did not work. He did a new alignment (static?) and it worked for a few days but my daughter just told me that it is back. There are no consistent characteristics to help - it may go a day or two or three with nothing; it has done it on the highway at 65; it has done it accelerting; it has done it at 45 . . .. Short of going to a Toyota dealership, wondering if anyone has had a similiar experience or thoughts. Thanks. Mike C

Does the car have factory original wheels and tires on it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Tires definitely not. Rims quite probably.

That's worth looking into. If the wheels and/or tires are heavier than the originals, they could be too much for the steering system when they go out of balance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

i had posted a few months ago about the same problem i was having with my wifes 2004 corolla S....lol to the point I thought that this was my same post haha. It drove me nuts for a while, i tried rotating the tires, putting my snow tires on thinking i had a bent rim, but i finally found out that my front passenger brake caliper was seized up and dragging on the rotor a new caliper, and a set of pads/rotors solved my problem __________________________________________________ 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 Ford Ranger 2004 Toyota Corolla 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
