03 rodeo tranny acting up

My daughter's 03 rodeo developed a strange issue this morning. She drove to work fine (5mi), later backed out of her parking area to leave, and truck wouldn't pull itself. Service engine and power loss lights came on. I put code reader on and got P1290, cylinder head temp sensor. Cleared it and truck is going ok for the moment. Is this loss of forward power an effect of faulty CHT sensor, or do we need to search further? (Rodeo has under 50k)
