2003 VW Jetta 1.8t Wolfsburg 95k miles.
So about 3 months ago my clutch started slipping and I had to wait to get it replaced. I waited to long and finally the clutch wore down and the car wouldn't move. I replaced the clutch. When the clutch was still slipping i noticed the turbo fade lower and lower till hearing nothing was common and then the throttle got less responsive. the mechanic told me its cause the computer dialed the throttle down to lessen the slippage. well now after the new clutch it has gradually increased and i can feel/hear the turbo once again but still have nowhere near the power i had before all this happened. do you know of ayway beside unhooking battery for an hr(i tried it) to try to reset the computer to fix my intake? i did a road test with the mechanic in the car and he said i had maybe half the air comming in im supposed to. which explains the lack of power. i used to be able to hit 45-50mph in second gear and 70-80 in third gear without trying. now i barely hit 30 before 2nd gear hits 4000 rpm. anything you can think of would help greatly.

I don't know what RPM should be at 30 in second. If now higher than when known normal the clutch is probably still slipping new or not.
Depending on linkage type and set up, a poor "free-play" adjustment if adjustable or a bad motor mount can change the free play too much and behave as if you are riding the clutch when you aren't,

the clutch is responding fine and does not slip even if I redline without letting up till shift(i do not do this rutinely just to test clutch for road test). if it is slipping i can't detect it. the clutch i had put in is a all-in-one clutch/assembely not sure if that helps. what was the name of the air test he did going down the freeway plugged into the code reader port?

What I'm trying convey is that changing the clutch doesn't change the gear ratios at all. It is a friction disc and associated parts merely to "disengage" engine from drivetrain while shifting and when still to allow you to get into gear. Basically a connect or disconnect with grades of slipping so it's smooth as dictated by how you use the pedal.
With no pressure on the pedal the clutch is a hard lock to transmission input shaft - no slipping if good. Car would stall if came to stop in gear as most have either done or witnessed
Ok: Engine and trans are mounted and can move a bit on mounts of rubber. The freeplay of the clutch can change depending on the torque not RPM so much on the engine and reduce the free play of engagement of a clutch such that it's slipping without touching the pedal.
If you just felt the pedal with like the least pressure there should be a gap of nothing at the top of it's travel. That is critical. Guess - that gap should be roughly 1 inch of nothing just sitting there. Each vehicle's specs will be somewhat different.
Note it changes while accellerating. If too little it just like you are just part riding the clutch such that engine can go faster than transmission input shaft and it's actually slipping IF THAT IS HAPPENING.
That can happen from incorrect adjustment of freeplay OR mounts allowing more motion than expected.
That's what I call clutch freeplay - if someone calls it air gap so be it - same idea.

Hydraulic linkages are usually not adjustable but that doesn't mean it's right - the play has to be there or the clutch will burn itself out early.
I don't think a computer code is going to know just what is going on if there's a failure with this part of the job. If there's no play or not enough then you find out how that specific car is adjusted or look for bad parts,

ok i see what you mean now. as far as free play the clutch ingages about 2-3in off the floor with a good 4in freeplay after.

It and all clutches should be gradients of disenged fully at the floor graduating to fully engaged with the "nothing" area or freeplay to allow for body and engine movement under loads.
If speed of engine is wrong vs old clutch when known good it could be slipping or your RPMs are reading wrong or something like that......... If clutch didn't have flywheel resurfaced it will take some time to break in. If not turned/machined or replaced it won't have the life expentancy that it would have if that was done,

the clutch i had put in is a all-in-one clutch/assembely He stated that he put in a "all in one" kit .which is all inclusive. What he said.. yes it was a clutch/flywheel all in one replacement. vw told me machining the flywheel was not the greatest idea because if it wore in wrong id have to re replace my clutch. i looked at available options and went with the all in one.
