hi, I have a 2003 grand prix gt 3.8L V6 with 166000k... last night I went to start my car & it sounded like it was going to start but didnt..so I tried again...made the noise like it was turning over but would not start, kept trying and the noise to turn engine over eventually turned into a click noise...I then was able to jump start it but it was hesitant to start..I let idol for a bit, then turned off and restarted..again started but was hesistant...& started again few hours later...same thing started but was hesitant to start...this morning went to start and no start...same thing but have not tried to jump start again today had to leave for work... before this happened tho the car was running fine & once every few months maybe, it wouldn't turn over on the 1st try.....
also a few months ago my check engine light came on. I took it to deal$hip they said that a code came up and they wanted to do a smoke test maybe a leaking seal, valve? but havent had the $$ to get the test done, they reset the check engine light and it hasnt come back on since... they think that may be why my car idles funny sometimes when I 1st start it , when idols it will rev between 1000-2000 rpm a few times before idol'n steady....any idea'S? thanks

Another thing you want to check is the fuel pressure. If the pressure starts dropping, you will get symptoms like that too.

speachy; Agree with HT. Does this problem happen only after the car has been sitting for a few hours or more? Or, does it do it even when the engine is warm?
