'03 ford windstar transaxle range sensor removal

2003 ford windstar.....my transaxle range sensor will not pop off easily like i've been told after i have removed the necessary bolts,i have tried both when the vehicle is in neutral and also while it is in park, i have tried using screwdrivers for leverage under the part and have used a heavy duty spray that says it breaks "stuck-on parts" loose....is there a step that i am missing?
