Hello, so i'm having an issue with my car which might be part of another. Originally my car wouldn't start after i would pump gas, i would have to try about 3 times and rev it to start. After that it would start every time. After a year or so i found out that my purge valve was probably the the problem so i just recently changed it. A new issue arose in the last month or 2, while the car is on put not driving it begins to rev up and down alone, it will continue to do so until i try to drive it and then it dies. it wont turn on until probably about 15 minutes or so later. it had never done this but it now has done it about 3 times in a month or 2. it did it 2 times in like one week. BTW the check engine light is on, it's been on and off for the pass 2 years or so but it had been off for a long time and just turned on again like 4 months ago. I appreciate any help i can get, thank you very much.

Which trouble code number(s) is stored in the engine controller? Which engine?

scan for codes - the light is your friend not an annoyance. Scans are FREE at many auto part stores. Did you read FREE, fast easy.
post ALL codes someone will advise.

SWAG - If you continue to fill fuel tank after the pump kicks off so called 'topping it off'..might want to check EVAP system for charcoal particle migration ie PURGE valve leaking.
