01 Chevy Impala/cant put gas in the car

I have a 2001 Impala that has become a real pain lately to put gas in. I have to gently squeeze the handle and put the fuel in really slow and sometimes it wont hardly go in at all. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

Check engine light on? If so, what trouble code number(s) is stored?
