I have a 1980 Honda Accord. Before I got it, at the end of 2007, it had been sitting for about 15 years. Everything has been considerably great durring tune-up; new spark plugs, oil change, new water pump, alt. belt) It started over-heating recently, so we changed thermostat plus added water & 50/50 antafreeze. Didnt really help much and then something happened with the fuel injection and/or injector valves I think?? I don't know what the problem really is--or cause?

I don’t know where to begin guessing as to what has or is going on with your car. Any vehicle that has sat for that long a period of time, may have a lot of issues if it was not stored properly. The overheating could be from large deposits of calcium that has formed in the radiator; restricting coolant flow. The cylinder head gasket may have rotted and now is leaking internally? As for the running aspect; the entire fuel system may be loaded with tarnish from the old fuel being left in the system for so long. Know that you’re running fresh fuel through the system; this tarnish might be dissolving and plugging up injectors, fuel filters or any other part of the injection system. It might be a great little car but like I said if it was not stored properly; you might be on a long road bringing this thing back to a reliable vehicle? I would suggest having the systems (fuel & cooling) professionally cleaned and go from there? Dan. Canadian "EH"

Is it running now at least ok and not overheating? If still overheating get right after that! This product above (SeaFoam) is pretty good at disolving gunk in fuel but 15 years is a long time! This can help but better for prevention than cure as they all are. If it's run well enough to burn off most of the fuel that was in it then use some of this - sparingly!! in the fuel and clean the throttle body. Have you changed the fuel filter yet? It might need a couple changes. Don't allow it to overheat or run poorly too long, T If it's been running check locally about getting the fuel injectors professionally cleaned.
