warms up back fires dies -cools then o.k.

I have a 76 audi fox , poor me ! it drives o.k. for 15-25 miles then misses and back fires then dies , cools off quickly 15-30 min. then runs o.k. for awhils , just did oil change , isnt over heating or low on any fluids , no leaks . I thought maybe valves bleeding down ? has 10-40 oil , I need this car so any help or ideas will help , thanks a millon !!

George; The symptoms smack of an electrical (ignition) problem. Need to find out if it is lacking spark or fuel when the problem occurs. Or, both.
