I have a buddy that has a 2005 nissan pathfinder. it has a v6 that he says is a 6Liter ? it is a v6 the problem is that it dies unexpectedly it will restart after a few cranks. the vehicle is also hard to start. The fuel gauge constantly shows empty. i am looking for a starting point or even questions that might point me in the right direction

Jason S: With all due respect it isn't your vehicle and your "buddy" as you put it doesn't seem to have a clue about a vehicle so at best make sure it had enough fuel for real and if not plain out of fuel find the right professional shop to take care of it. The only engine I found was a 4.0, V6 which barely matters with a second hand bunch of info to try to do a thing with this. The web is just ducky for info. Use it to find a shop there's no way to go anywhere with this with zero information. It's a trade in biz just to do this stuff, years of experience, mega thousands of bucks in tools, a place to test and do stuff isn't just a point and click on the web fix anything, Tom

Any trouble codes stored in the engine ECU? If so, what are the numbers? What is the fuel pressure when the engine stalls out or when it's hard to start? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

i haven't taken any of my cars/trucks to a shop in 29 years, and have even replaced engines in cars as new as a 2014 Equinox, didn't mean to waste your time, just trying to get some information

So, why aren't you answering the important questions the professional tech has asked you? If you aren't willing to do any testing you are wasting everyone's time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
