There isn't one single test that is going to prove an engine is good or not. Find or verify exhaust restrictions as a double check, intake manifold leaking on poorly sealed engine. Bouncing needle for bad valves - other stuff all around. I can't post it from a paper book but it's good info still for several things as said. Right up to is there a vacuum however slight at an oil dipstick tube on some indicated PCV system is working.
