Did he do anything else besides playing with the wiring? Leave any grounds unhooked? There is a ground I believe on the thermostat housing bolt. Is that one intact? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

There is a wire or connector that you have to unplug to set base timing on those. It is a tan wire with a black stripe. Even if that was disconnected the engine should still run. Can you take a picture of the engine bay and what he unplugged and then upload the pic(s) to a hosting site such as Photobucket? Then paste the link in here? Maybe if we can see the wiring and such, we might catch something. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Usually black with white striped wires are grounds. Really need to see a pic of this. It shouldn't be wrapped around cut wires. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

You pictures showed up. Is there power on that brown wire where that black wire is wrapped around with the key on. That black wire was something that someone put there. Probably because the connector on the firewall has melted terminals, so they ran a bypass. Can you follow that brown wire to where goes after it goes through that black connector at the bottom of your pic? Usually brown wires are power wires. Is there power where those two wires are twisted together with the ignition turned on or while the engine is cranking? You need a volt meter or 12 volt test lamp to see if there is power. Your doing fine, but really need to know what that brown wire is going to. Could be going to the left fuel pump. It looks more tan than brown actually.
