i recently bought a 96 Pontiac Sunfire gt with a 2.4 twincam motor, it is a automatic, it starts only if gas peddle is pressed during, then when started black smoke comes out from muffler, wont stay started without reving engine and constanly pressing down gas peddle, or it will stall. spark plugs are more blackish then normal, (sooty), this car has been sitting for 6 months, has newly put in premium gas.
i suspect weak ignition, break in vaccum hoses, or needs new fuel pressure regulator, or could it be only one or two spark plugs are firing at idle speed?
anybody with experience with these cars have any idea whats going on and what has to be fixed?
