I am changing a headgasket on a 1996 saturn sl with 1.9lit. engine/250000km. How much torgue pressure in pounds
are the head bolts. (specs)

Is it an SL1 or SL2?

Chester; The Saturn uses 'Stretch' type head bolts and should be replaced each time they are removed from the head.
The tightening sequence must be done in specific pattern. We should be able to supply you with the pattern if need be.
The actual tightening of the head bolts is done in three steps;
SOHC: Step One: Tighten bolts to 22 ft. lbs.
Step Two: Tighten bolts to 33 ft. lbs.
Step Three: Tighten bolts by turning 1/4 turn (90%)
DOHC: Step One: Same as SOHC
Step Two: Tighten bolts to 37 ft. lbs.
Step Three: Same as SOHC
