I HAVE A 2004 KIA SEDONA 6CYL. 3.5L THAT HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING. AFTER THE ENGINE HAS BEEN DRIVEN A WHILE AND YOU TURN THE IGNITION OFF, YOU CANT RESTART THE ENGINE. WE TRIED TO REPLACE THE STARTER BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. WHAT'S UP WITH MY VEHICLE??

Is the starter cranking the engine and not starting or not cranking at all? T

Tom, Thanks for your responce. This is my brothers post. His computer is down. Thats why he never got back to you. I'll play middle man & tell you..it wont crank at all. You or anyone have any ideas?

If this just periodically will do this with no response from starter it's usually just a connection problem There should be a trigger wire to the solenoid to starter that might need cleaning up OR if this fails so badly as to find clock resets and nothing lights up for a while it's more likely a main battery cable connection - can be either at the battery or the other ends. Seems like this has been the popular problem this month here! Barring any funky alarms or other pertinent info this should be just a matter of inspecting and cleaning those connections mentioned - they at least need to be ruled out to begin to guess at what else is possible, T

o.k. He claims to have done all that. In fact, he claims the connection to the Solenoid looks almost new. He'll check again. He has a new starter, but he cant get 1 of the bolts off. Its concealed under the exhaust or something?

There are tons of nice tight connections out there they don't allow the amps to go thru. Example: Even try to jump start a car and have to re set the cables to get a jump? Same deal with the OE cables - they are on look right and don't work sometimes. It must be ruled out, T

O.k. Its ruled out. Somehow he got to the starter and switched that out. It started up & was running..Figured it was the connection or the Solonoid itself. The new Starter suggest it probably was, but.. It's dead again. Can something be Shorting or killing the Solenoid?

Pre note: There are VERY few truly bad solenoids - usually connections or power to it. Let's refresh what's happening right now. It is cranking at all? Is the battery known charged? It might have some parasitic drain taking power of battery down or any of the connection at battery, (cables right there) and the cable connection at the engine block from battery cable neg side. Once this car is running the charging system needs to be checked as well, T
