My 95 caravan 3.0 starts right up but as soon as I stop giving it gas it stalls. Car sat for a couple months then when I went to use it I went a 1/2 mile when it started to stall. Now it stalls as soon as I let up on the gas. Any ideas Thanks Bill

Bill; If the vehicle sat that long, it's possible that the battery was low? Or, dead? If the computer loses battery voltage long enough, it will erase it's KAM (keep alive memory) and will have to 'relearn' idle stratedgies. After about 10-15 miles of normal driving, should correct it. There is a specific 'drive cycle' for this, but usually, just driving it will work. If this isn't the case, could be as simple as a dirty or sticky IAC (idle air control) motor. These can be cleaned. Loren SW Washington

Battery never died, in fact it is very strong. The car starts as soon as you turn the key. Where & what is the idl control motor & how do you clean it? Thanks Bill

The IAC Motor is on the side of the throttle body; the picture below is just a generic picture; but it should give you an idea of what to look for. I usually use a small bottle brush and a can of aerosol air intake cleaner; too clean the motor and the bore that the motor sits in. While you’re at it prop open the throttle and clean the throttle plate and the throttle bore. Dan. Canadian "EH"

Removed Idle air control & sprayed it with Carb cleaner ( all I had) Realized car only starts when I give it gas. Had my wife turn the key (no gas) while I looked at the butterfly, it didn't open. There is also some slack in the cables. Thanks Bill

The IAC doesn’t open the throttle; it controls the amount of air that is allowed to by-pass around the throttle plate(s). The plunger type looking thing at the end of the IAC is extended or retracted; which changes/adjusts the idle speed. Dan Canadian "EH"

I am lost here. Doesn't the IAC move the throttle plate to let air in? Thanks Bill

No, it does not. It controls air flow through another passage unrelated to the throttle plate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

The IAC does not have a stem into the throttle. Instead when I take it off there is a stem sticking out of the throttle housing. Is that normal? Thanks Bill

According to my buyers guide this is what it should look like? Maybe yours is broken off and is in two pieces; sure would answer the stalling issue? Dan. Canadian "EH"

Must be braken off. Mine doesn't have the spring or bullet shaped head. But there is a stem sticking out of the intake body. Will buy a new 1 & hope I can get the piece out of the intake body. Thanks For all you help. Bill
