sportage no spark on 2 cylinders Sign In

I've got a 99 sportage 4x4 that has no spark on 2 cylinders. Problem is the battery was out for a long time and it has no codes stored. I checked the plugs going to the coils and one of them is dead. Now I'm trying to determine what the cause is. The crank and cam position sensors are each 3 wire sensors so I don't think that would make you loose spark in 2 cylinders. So I'm thinking that there could be an issue with the computer.

any help would be greatly appreciated

What engine do you have and which 2 cylinders are dead?

I assume you have physically tested for spark in those cylinders with a spark tester?

it's the front coil pack. They have 2 coil packs on this, each pack is a coil over one cylinder and has a wire running to the other. I believe it's 1 and 3 that are dead

Use a noid light and tap it into the coil control wires (unplugged from the coil) and see if your getting pulse. If not, test for constant power on one wire with the key on.
