Re: spark plug Sign In

I'm a bit confused. Is the plug in there now and presumed stuck and cross threaded? Did a plug break right off leaving threads in the original hole or just what has happened??

Re: spark plug Sign In

FrownReply to Tom Greenleaf: The plug is still in there. I took it in to get spark plugs put in. The mechanic says that he couldn't get the number 4 spark plug out, because the bolt was cross threaded. It wasn't missing that day, but he said that it might start misfiring. After about a week my truck starting missing pretty bad, and then my engine light came on. I took it to the mechanic to check it out and diagnosis was #4 plug misfiring. The mechanic said this would be a costly repair, because the plug would have to be taken out at the head.

Re: spark plug Sign In

Is it the spark plug that is cross threaded, or the little bolt that holds the coil in place? I do not think the spark plug has been cross threaded. It may be rusted in place and hard to remove. A competent technician should be able to remove it using a little time and lubricants they have available.

SmileIt is the bolt. Your reply makes me feel a little better about the situation. Thank you

Re: spark plug Sign In

If it is the bolt that holds the coil, it can be removed and a self tapping bolt installed. Not a big thing. It is done quite often. Good luck.
