Check the hot air intake delivery system that it is in tact. That’s the tube that comes from the heat shield around the exhaust manifold and connects to the snorkel of the air breather. If it’s intact, check that the temperature regulating door in the snorkel is operating properly. The air cleaner should be around a 100 degree F at all times. With ambient temperatures getting down to around the 50’s or less; the moister in the air along with the velocity of the air entering the carb can freeze this moister when it contacts the cold metal of the carb. Even on an engine running at “normal” coolant temperatures can still freeze up the carb without the hot dry air that was collected from around the exhaust manifold. Could also explain why, your car started and ran ok after sitting for a few minutes. The heat of the engine transferred to the carb and thawed it out; while it was shut off. Dan. Canadian "EH"
