i have a 2000 kia sephia 4 cyl ,the problem i'm having is the car was usually running on the temperature gauge at 1 knotch below the middle range ,not its running 2 knotches above the middle range,what i noticed today was when i shut the car off, i didn't hear the cooling fans go on ,so my question is are the fans shot,( how do i check to see if their working ),could it possibly be the thermostat,( i let the car cool downfor 4 hours) i took off the radiator cap, and started it back up and noticed bubbles popping out of the radiator ,does this mean there is air in the lines,or does it mean the thermostat is shot,if that's not the case could it be the temerature sensor,and if so where is it located and what does it look like.................what else should i check .................any help would be greatly appreciated

The bubbles when it's running isn't a good sign. While it could just be air in the system working itself out. Unless cooling system work has been done recently, there shouldn't be any air in the system.
I would probably have it block checked to make sure you don't have a head gasket problem.
Has the car been losing any coolant lately?
To check the fans, simply turn the car on & run it. At a certain point the fans need to come on and cool the coolant down. Without a scanner you can just look at the gauge. If it's getting to 3/4 with no fans coming on then the car needs to be shut off and thats where you will need the tools to see what the exacts temps are. What the gauge is showing, what the pcm is seeing, etc....
