That engine was pretty notorious for vacuum leaks at numerous points. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

In line SIX engines were trouble for vacuum leaks with looooong intake manifold to head sealing. Can check with carb cleaner AYOR there, any hoses, base of carb. Did you say elsewhere this was a manual choke? If not OE design you can bend the carb without the proper step cam which should be smooth not steps or better if it broke the choke cable - who knows? So many got altered new gets hard to know, T

Gotta catch that this is valid. Are you doing a proper compression test? It doesn't matter how long it holds and I ignored that. Are you releasing the pressure between cylinder even?! Just the crudest basics........ Engine warm when possible, 3-4th compression reading while cranking, rise with squirt of oil and how much AND all done with throttle held OPEN, all plugs out. If all read 160 right on the money that's not really likely and you are doing the test incorrectly. Also best to hold choke open wide and stop fuel flow for the test. Does this now have both a knob for idle speed and choke knob under dash or one for both? Told you EVERYONE messed with them with a wild assortment of kits readily available still! Duh - it's old now. OE knobs would have said C.H.O.K.E. on the knob not an icon and probably chrome with black letters. Usually like this if the pic shows........ >> ^^ Pic was there^^ T
