Search Auto Parts Search rough running Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Engine Troubleshooting jgrubs1 New User Dec 16, 2009, 3:14 AM Post #1 of 3 (2265 views) rough running Sign In i have a 93 chevy cavalier 2.2l phv mpfi. the car was surging whlie driving down the roadon an off. also the car had a rough idle while in gear.i changed spark plugs wires to no avail. they looked ok' i the changed the tpi sensor ,took a quart of oil out of transmission and added a quart of transmission fix. this seemed to take care of the surging problem but when i come to a stop light or sign i have to put in nutralor the engine runs very rough.hope someone has any ideas steve01832 Veteran Dec 16, 2009, 4:23 AM Post #2 of 3 (2258 views) Re: rough running Sign In You should install a fuel pressure guage, and check for spark at all cylinders with a spark tester. These engines had coil and module problems.
