quits on road but keeps going Sign In

I have a 2000 jeep sport with 4.0 engine 180,000 miles.
I will be driving at 55 or 60 mph and the tach goes to 0 for a split second and the engine quits but then keeps on going. I know there is no pump in the tranny to keep the engine turning. There are no codes. I have no idea whats going on. If I'm going 30 mph it will stall and fire right back up. Any ideas?

Nor does any other car.

Sounds liker the Crank sensor may be dropping out for a split second but there are numerous other possibilities also.

I think this should be a sticky...

How do you know there are no codes?
Wehn you turn key to start does the CEL/SES come on for @3 seconds then go out?
Not all codes will set MIL. And many low end readers do NOT check all codes.

ley us know - any modifications, AFTERMARKET and if applicable remote starter.
