pulled threads out of aluminun head

pulled threads out of aluminun head Sign In

while replacing rocker arms after intake, i seem to have pulled the threads out of the head. any ideas/help.2003 chevy malibu 3.1 v6

If I am understanding the threads in the head where the rocker arm stud screws in is what you have lost. If so I don't see any problem with a thread repair kit (Heili Coil). The rocker arms should take a fairly low torque so the repair should hold with out trouble. These kits can be bought with the correct size drill and thread tap for what ever size you need. You will just have to find out what size the stud is. Good Luck

after looking closer there was a heli coil there already.seem to be that all of the rocker bolts have them.why?
