Greetings, Our 2000 Chevy Astor ,4.3 lt, stopped dead while driving. I checked the fuel filter, it was clogged. I changed the filter. The engine wouldn't start unless I introduced fuel into the manifold. I checked the fuel pressure to the injectors it was 20 lb. Question: Is 60 lb pressure still required on the 2000 model with 4.3 lt?

Yes, it is. You need a minimum of 55 PSI to run. Make sure your checking that cranking. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have a 95 GMC safari. I had to replace the fuel pump on a couple years ago and the and the spider ,Injector set up, as well, what a bother. The injector was under the manifold. Question: Looking at this 2000 Chevy Astor the injector looks like it can be serviced form the top, is that so? Richard

It's under the manifold like the last one but your problem is with the fuel pump and that's inside the fuel tank.

Yes! I know. I didn't enjoy dropping the tank. Question: Have you ever seen the screen on the pump clogged badly enough to so it could be cleaned and the pump reinstalled? Thanks Richard

Never, Even if it was possible, it would ruin the pump too.

Thanks! The condition of the fuel filter was the worsed I've seen, that must have been the cause of the pump failure.

That's what ruined your pump but you'd better make sure you get it all cleaned out of the tank when you change the pump or you will ruin the new pump too.

The price of replacement parts is from $94 to $350. What is your thought? Richard

Thought on what. Brand wise, I would use nothing but Delco. Those prices all sound cheap.
