can any1 give me a bit of a self help guide, so i think/I am hoping this is the prob i have is i have air caught in the fuel system as when i try to start the car its seems to go to start and runs for a few secs then chugs and cuts out. this first happened (except without the chugging) when i thought I needed to refill it yesterday as i Stupidly let the fuel go low, i was on a downward pointing steep hill when this happened it so i managed to push the car back onto drive which is total flat filled her up and tried to restart her there on the flat road but she still would'nt start. i know its my OWN fault but please is there any1 there who knows if there is anything i can do to repair this myself as i have been let down twice now by the mechanic who was supposed to original come to look at her yesterday.

In tank fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the fuel in the tank. When you run a car out of gas, it pumps a lot of air through the pump which overheats it and causes some severe wear and many times, failure when they cool off.
You will need to use a fuel pressure gauge to verify this
They do not get air bound because it is a constantly circulating system.
