oil leakage, air filter not in place, reasons for smoke Sign In

My car had been smoking for the passed couple of services.
I had explained the problem to my mechanic and he told me that it was the diesel spray injectors.
NOTE: In the passed the electronic part of the diesel pump had been replaced.

After I had left the service I had detailed examined my car and I had found that the air filter container was not sitting on the right place since some metallic plate with 2 screws was broken.
I had also found oil in the rubber tubes from point 1 to 2. The tubes where not in place and I tighten them up.
Fixing the whole air filter system and tighten up all the loose ends in each tube made the car to stop smoking.
I went back to the mechanic and he told me that this was not the reason why my car stopped smoking.
He had also reassured me that the oil leakage is not a serious problem.

He had also mention that it would had been better for the engine if the tube 1 had been removed so it does not bring back the bad “air” to the engine.
Please comment on the above, and let me know what I can do to stop the oil leakage.

Maybe it is time to look for another mechanic.

Tube one needs to be connected because that is the fresh air hose for the crankcase ventilation system.

Tube 2 is the inlet air duct and has to be connected because you don't want unfiltered air getting into the engine.

You really don't want the engine burning oil because that will gum up the valves and cause problems. Indirect injection engines don't have a way to spray fuel onto the intake valves, so they tend to get built up with deposits.

Thank you for your reply. Since I'm not a mechanic I had search and read about the crankcase ventilation system, I believe I understood the way it works. From my examination this is the part that blows "air" and I suspect that this is where the oil comes and it goes to the end of tube 2. Right?

That hose is the inlet for the PCV system. Fresh air from the ducting is pulled into the crankcase through that hose. The manifold vacuum pulls the crankcase vapors into the intake. Normally there shouldn't be oil in the inlet hose unless the PCV system isn't operating properly, the engine has excessive blow by, or there is some type of design problem with the vapor separator system in the valve cover.

So it is as I suspected, that the oil comes from PCV, goes from tube 1 to tube 2 and then in the manifold.
Should I tell my mechanic to replace the PCV valve or check the Piston rings?
Thank you for you help

PS: those 2 articles help me to understand the use of PCV

You mechanic is going to have to figure out why oil is getting into the ducting. We don't have that vehicle here in the states, so don't have service or any TSB information to go on.
