Search Auto Parts Search no start 1996 jeep cherokee 4.0l inline Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Engine Troubleshooting mrp New User Nov 22, 2009, 6:13 PM Post #1 of 3 (2857 views) no start 1996 jeep cherokee 4.0l inline Sign In 1996 jeep cherokee 4.0l inline 6 cyl. here is my problem. i swapped motors.everything on the new motor came from the original motor.when it cme to start it it would not start.i have spark, fuel and compression. when turning over it shows rpm on the scanner.there are no fault codes.the dist. was installed #1 at tdc compression stroke. and rotor at #1 the computer does the timing.the only thing i noticed was the new block had a adj. dist clamp on it and the dist is a fixed slot. You should have used the original one from your original engine. The crank sensor/reluctor must match.
