Have 97ford ranger 2wheel drive. Have no power and lucky to go over 25 miles an hour. Replaced timing belt spark plugs and exhaust from manifold all the way back. Still has no power at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: no power Sign In

Symptoms point to valve timing which would give you even low compression up to bent valves. Did old timing belt move at all or break?
If improper belt installation, bent valves if interference engine many are. Most wouldn't run at all.

What or when did this begin after working on it or all at once by surprise?

Re: no power Sign In

Are there any trouble codes stored? Is this automatic or manual? Does the engine feel like it is skipping (running on 3 cylinders) or does it feel like it is bogging out? Can you push the vehicle in neutral?

You should start with a compression test to see how the engine is mechanically. Make sure the battery is fully charged, the throttle is wide open, and you disable spark and fuel when you do your test. Let us know your numbers.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
