Phillip; You may want to take a sample of the fuel. Is there any way possible that you could have put diesel in the tank? The smoke bothers me. You shouldn't be able to see any smoke behind you. Also, a fuel sample will show if you've got water in the fuel. I like to put about a pint of fuel in a glass jar and let it sit for a few minutes. Any water present will settle to the bottom. With that said, it could be completely coincidental that this started after adding fuel. In the US, all vehicles after 1996 must have OBDII computer systems. They will show which cylinder misfired, and how many times, and under what conditions. So, if yours has that system, it should store any trouble codes, and I would think you'd have a "Check Engine" or "Service Soon" light illuminated.

the mondeo is turbo diesel, it was diesel i put in , we have an ecu computer but this has no error codes stored on it as this it what manages the engine. garage technician checked this for me and there are no warning lights on the dash to say anything is wrong this is why it is so hard to figure out what is wrong. i don't know of anywhere who tests fuel here . many thanks for reply

OOOOOPPPS! It is a diesel. Well, disregard my entire post.Unsure Sorry. You still may want to take a fuel sample to check for water. And, the fuel filter..Beyond that, I'm not much help, mate. Sorry.
