1990 dodge caravan that is loosing power,it won't hardly go above 35 miles an hour with out spitting and spurting and jerking ,trying to pull a hill is almost out of the question. On flat ground below 30 - 40 miles an hour it runs ok.It also starts real easy. What's wrong with it?

Hi,

Folks are here but we don't always have an easy suggestion for you. It could be spark secondary items like coil(s) wires, plugs or a lot of possibilities. Fuel pressure, if a four a timing belt issue. With age and miles a lot of things are possible. You could try to make it sputter at idle with spaying like salt water on the wires and secondaries, coil, distributor cap - whatever and see if that really aggrevates the problem. If it doesn't they probably are ok.

Even plugged up converter(s) could cause loss of power but they tend not to make it sputter as you said. Guess all this stuff has to be checked out,

T
